AVG Unistall Issue Error 0×80070005

This error is displayed when trying to Unistall AVG 7 or Installing a Later Version

Error: Action failed for reg­istry key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows: cre­at­ing reg­istry key.… Error 0×80070005

There are 2 possible fixes to this. The first is to download some software AVG have wrriten to fix the issue from here Unzip the file and run the .bat file. If this still does not resolve your issue you will need to manually change the registery permissions Here’s how I fixed the problem…

1. Open the reg­istry edi­tor ( Start , Run then type regedit) and nav­i­gate through the folders to the fol­low­ing key:  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
2. Right-click on the Win­dows key.
3. Choose Per­mis­sions, then click Advanced.
4. The first two entries should start with “Deny” per­tain­ing to the “Every­one” group.
5. High­light the first entry and click Remove. Now remove the other “Deny” entry.
6. Close the reg­istry edi­tor and try your un/instal­la­tion again.
