Just had to spend an hour getting someone to\u00a0setup a Raid array with hot spare via the phone on a new server, Not sure why it took so long , apperently MegaRaid WebBios didn’t come up in the f2 cofig :\u00a0https:\/\/xorl.wordpress.com\/2012\/08\/30\/ibm-megaraid-bios-config-utility-raid-10-configuration\/<\/p>

How to config the raid in the Bios<\/strong><\/p>

  1. Turn on the server.<\/span>
    Note:<\/span> Approximately 10 seconds after the server is connected to power, the power-control button becomes active.<\/div><\/div><\/li>
  2. When prompted, <F1 Setup><\/samp> is displayed, press F1. If you have set an administrator password, you must type the administrator password to access the full Setup utility menu. If you do not type the administrator password, a limited Setup utility menu is available.<\/span><\/li>
  3. Select System Settings<\/span> > Storage<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/li><\/ol>

    Creating Hot Spares<\/strong><\/p>

    A global hot spare is used to replace a failed physical drive in any redundant array, as long as the capacity of the global hot spare is equal to or larger than the coerced capacity of the failed physical drive. You can designate the hot spare to have enclosure affinity. In an enclosure affinity, if drive failures are present on a split backplane configuration, the hot spare first is used on the backplane in which it resides. Perform the following steps to create global hot spares:<\/p>

    1. Navigate to the Drive Management screen, navigate to a physical drive that you want to change to a hot spare, and press the F2 key.<\/p>

    2. Select Make Global HS, and press Enter. The physical drive is changed to a global hot spare. The status of the physical drive as a global hot spare appears in the Drive Management screen.<\/p>
