Adobe PDF creation cannot continue because Acrobat is not activated.

After trying to create a PDF by printing to the PDF Printer , I recieved this error
“Adobe PDF creation cannot continue because Acrobat is not activated.”
I choose help , then activate , but both activate and deactivate where greyed out. Upon investigation the FLEXnet Licensing Service service in Windows has been disabled and set to manual. Changing this back to automatic and starting the service fixed this problems
